About me

Ivanova tries to explain the national debt.

Hi there. This website is terribly out of date. I’m a Brooklyn-based multimedia journalist, working in words, video and charts. I currently work as a data reporter for CBS MoneyWatch. Before that, I was a news editor for The Huffington Post, and before that, I reported on health care for Crain’s New York Business.

I’ve been working in media more or less since 2006, when I landed on the East Village couch of a friend who worked at The Indypendent, and then landed at the Indy for several years. My work’s also appeared in or on Mother Jones, City Limits, The New York Times Local, Crain’s New York Business, Gotham Gazette, Voices of New York and elsewhere. I’ve also researched and reported for Wayne Barrett at Newsweek/The Daily Beast, translated for TIME and managed a digital photo lab. Along the way I got a master’s from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism.

I cover the intersection of economics and daily life, with a particular interest in the barely-legal economy.
